ATLANTA, GA.—February 2, 2011—GE (NYSE: GE) today announced the release of the Smallworld* Enterprise Gateway solution. This new software product enables users of GE’s geospatial solutions to directly use Smallworld data for applications operating on Oracle® Spatial technology.

"Oracle and GE are both established solutions providers working with many of the world’s leading utility companies," said Xavier Lopez, director of spatial technologies at Oracle. "With the introduction of Smallworld Enterprise Gateway, our customers will now be able to use the combination of GE technology and Oracle software to improve planning, productivity and customer service performance."

The Smallworld Enterprise Gateway product provides a comprehensive, high-performing solution to make Smallworld managed data available through an Oracle database. Customers benefit from improved performance of a range of business processes including, reporting, asset management and data warehouse applications.

As an integral part of GE’s Smallworld portfolio, the Smallworld Enterprise Gateway solution is GE’s next step to strengthen the value of Smallworld solutions for customers operating in combined database architectures with Oracle Spatial. It allows re-using the quality models of the proven Smallworld industry applications suite for non-Smallworld applications and can be configured and operated very efficiently.
