GE is pleased to announce the latest release of its field proven Multilin UR platform of protection and control relays, version 7.7. This release delivers improved network flexibility, reliability and time synchronization with user selectable IEC 61850 Ed.1 or Ed.2 and support for redundant SNTP, enabling applications and communications flexibility to support reliable and secure grids.

In this release, both advanced IEC 61850 Ed. 1 and Ed. 2 are supported via selectable relay settings. This enables savings in firmware validation when migrating from IEC 61850 Ed. 1 to Ed. 2 as well as giving UR users access to the latest UR P&C functionality while maintaining their existing IEC61850 Ed. 1 substation clients. Complete settings via SCL files and IEC 61850-9-2 process bus support ensures interoperability, device managing optimization and therefore reduced the cost of ownership.

The UR version 7.7 also supports IEEE 1588 and redundant Secured Network Time Protocol (SNTP) server for time synchronization and increased system reliability.
