GE awarded substation equipment contract to help power the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia

GE awarded substation equipment contract to help power the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia

MOSCOW, Russia, September 22, 2020 – GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions business [NYSE:GE] today announced it has been awarded the contract to supply its 110 kV F35 Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) for the Arctic LNG 2 project, a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) development located on the Gydan peninsula in Western Siberia, Russia. Delivery of GE’s GIS equipment is scheduled between 2020-2021.

GE’s F35 gas insulated switchgear is one of the industry’s most compact GIS solutions in its class.  Aluminum enclosures elements ensure low thermal and electromagnetic losses from induced currents and significantly simplify installation works. In addition, the F35 features an advanced SF6 sealing system.

Viktor Kamyshev, GE’s Grid Solutions General Manager for Russia/CIS, said: “GE’s Grid Solutions is proud to participate in the key Arctic LNG 2 oil and gas project in Russia. Our compact gas insulated switchgear will help ensure reliable power supply to the project’s production trains.”

Since 2008, GE’s F35 GIS solutions have been in use within the Russian power grid to help transmit and distribute reliable power.  From the Rostov Arena and the Perm Thermal Power Plant-6 to transmission & distribution substations helping to power the cities of Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, and the Krasnoyarsk District, customers continue to rely on GE.
