Brilliant machines connected to real-time data: this is already a reality to GE, the world's biggest digital industrial company. Digital solutions have the power to bring value and improve productivity in the energy sector – from generation to distribution. How? By maximizing performance of electrical grids, creating new transmission & distribution models, based in connectivity and integrating different energy sources to the grid.

Very soon, Brazil's electrical system will take one more step towards a digital future. GE and ONS (National System Operator) – responsible for coordinating and controlling power generation and distribution installations for the National Interconnected System – signed a contract for the supply and development of components for a system that can provide real-time monitoring.

The system will monitor the security conditions of the Brazilian electrical grid to help plan and control operations with more efficiency. At the end of the day, the data collected turns into productivity and reliability, once these resources help to avoid unprogrammed power black-outs and minimize the effects of possible failures.

What makes this system different? Its precision on detecting anomalies. The system will work complementing the conventional monitoring, that provides 1 frame every 2 seconds. With the new system, it is possible to obtain a minimal of 60 frames per second (going up to 200), synchronized by GPS!

The project has an estimated value of US$ 6.1 million and will be implemented in two cycles: the installation of the monitoring system and the maintenance and technical support for the solution.
