GE's Smallworld Business Integrator 5 now certified as
Powered by SAP NetWeaver

ATLANTA, April 20, 2016 – GE (NYSE: GE) today announced that its Smallworld™ Business Integrator 5 has achieved SAP certification as powered by the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform. The solution enables customers to build and maintain an integrated view of their assets across their Smallworld based geospatial network data and SAP® ERP application. Smallworld Business Integrator 5 is provided by GE's Grid Solutions Software business and is part of GE's Smallworld 5 portfolio, the industry's first geospatial information system (GIS) to adopt Java® technology.

The Smallworld portfolio provides utilities and telecommunications organizations with the network information to cost effectively provide and maintain services to their customers. It provides the accurate spatial and connected model of their networks, together with standard applications required to support the operating lifecycle of the network assets. When integrating with the SAP Enterprise Asset Management solution, this data can be used in inspection, maintenance and repair activities to help ensure the optimal running of the network.

Smallworld Business Integrator's configuration based capabilities can dramatically reduce the time and cost to achieve a synchronized and integrated view of the network assets that underpin these key business processes, accelerating the time to value for customers. The SAP® Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified that Smallworld Business Integrator 5 is now powered by SAP NetWeaver.

Solutions that are powered by SAP NetWeaver can be more quickly and easily integrated into SAP solution environments. Customers can benefit from improved interoperability with SAP applications and with the large ecosystem of solutions that run on SAP NetWeaver. Choosing a SAP-certified solution can also help reduce overall IT investment costs and risks.

“We are delighted to announce that Smallworld Business Integrator 5 is now certified as powered by SAP NetWeaver,” said Karim El Naggar, Software Solutions General Manager, GE Grid Solutions and Chief Digital Officer, GE Energy Connections. “Now deploying business processes for managing network assets can be achieved by configuring standard software, using Smallworld 5 and SAP ERP. Our customers benefit from a fully supported solution meeting the highest level of technical and interoperability standards. The ability of Smallworld Integrator 5 to run on SAP NetWeaver and interoperate with other SAP NetWeaver-based solutions will prove highly beneficial to our current and future customers.”

Customers worldwide use GE's Smallworld portfolio to manage their networks. Customers range from telecommunications companies operating wired and wireless networks to utilities managing transmission and distribution networks. The portfolio provides standard solutions for planning and design through to replacement and refurbishment. The solutions help organizations to fully leverage the valuable investment made in their network infrastructure. www.gegridsolutions.com/gis.htm
