GE recognized for third consecutive year as a leader in Gartner's 2016 "Magic Quadrant for ADMS" PDF

As a leading digital industrial company, GE delivers increased grid resiliency, reliability and energy efficiency with integrated distribution solutions powered by the Industrial Internet

ATLANTA – April 4, 2016 – GE's Grid Solutions business (NYSE: GE), one of the world's premier providers of energy grid modernization software solutions today announced it had again been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders quadrant of the "Magic Quadrant for Advanced Distribution Management Systems" report for its PowerOn ADMS Solution.

"We believe that having our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) solution recognized in this way is a testament to our vision and focused strategy in delivering proven, outcome based solutions that drive clear value for our global customers", stated Keith Grassi, Product Line Leader for Distribution and Smart Grid Solutions at GE. "Delivering innovative capability to increase grid reliability, transform outage response and integrate renewable power is critical for our customers in this increasingly dynamic and evolving industry and is a key investment priority for us at GE."

Gartner is a leading information technology research and advisory company and its Magic Quadrant reports offers comprehensive insights about the sector, providing benchmark standards for the industry. Gartner's Magic Quadrant report identifies the position of competing technologies within a specific sector and assesses vendors on ‘Completeness of Vision' and ‘Ability to Execute' against their stated vision. GE's leadership position was stated in the Gartner's recent report* where it analyzed the capabilities of eight vendors offering ADMS solutions. This was the third consecutive year for GE to be recognized as a leader in this report.

GE's ADMS product line delivers proven customer outcomes for utility customers, built on 35 plus years of collective industry experience and collaboration with electric utilities and research organizations around the world. GE's revolutionary ADMS solution provides a single, modular and scalable software platform which delivers increased grid reliability, improved operational productivity and increased network efficiency while solving the challenges of an increasingly dynamic energy mix as renewables and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) adoption increases across global distribution networks.

GE has an exceptional breadth and depth of domain expertise as well as solution offerings that is unmatched by others in the industry. GE Digital provides transverse capabilities and sets the digital strategy across all GE products, with GE's Predix cloud platform delivering the technical foundation of its next-generation solutions. The Alstom and GE alliance, positions GE as the best partner to deliver fully connected solutions for consumers, prosumers and utility operations across the enterprise all the way to the grid edge, utilizing mobility and cloud for access anywhere and anytime.

“GE is revolutionizing the way we address our customer's key challenges, leveraging advanced technology with industrial depth to drive grid edge intelligence”, said Karim El Naggar, Software Solutions General Manager and Chief Digital Officer, GE Energy Connections. “The upcoming release of Grid IQ™ Insight, will illustrate this perfectly. It will provide a platform for utilities to support new program initiatives. Its flexibility allows it to be used as an enterprise dashboard, customer portal and an application development framework to provide big data analytics. This solution gives customers the ability to obtain real actionable insights from a host of previously unintegrated enterprise systems, allowing them to derive new intelligence and decision making in the most intuitive way, as shown by its use in recent Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) grid modernization projects.”

GE will be showcasing its full digital industrial software solutions portfolio for grid modernization at its forthcoming International Software Summit, which is taking place April 18th-21st in Sorrento, Italy.
