Tuesday October 5th saw the arrival of 60+ customers, partners and prospects to the Smallworld™ Headquarters in Cambridge for the 3rd Smallworld UK and Ireland Open Day. Paul Stevenson, Smallworld Global Quality Leader, moderated this annual local event which provided a forum for all to receive updates on GE Energy business strategy, new product introductions, and customer successes in an informal setting. Martin Ansell, GM Smallworld, led proceedings with a business update and was followed by Mark Corney, Director of Operations, SSE Telecoms. Mr Corney endorsed the great teamwork between the GE Energy UK Customer Support team and SSE in the effective delivery of the Smallworld Network Inventory™ portfolio which enabled SSE Telecoms to ‘go-live’ a month ahead of schedule.
A key highlight of the day was the official opening of the ‘Smallworld Smart Networks Experience Center’ by Dr Julian Huppert, UK Member of Parliament. Commenting on the experience centre, Dr Huppert stated "…now is the time to re-think how we deliver smarter, cleaner, and more efficient electricity and facilities such as this one in Cambridge show how solutions available today can unlock that potential.” GE Energy was joined by partners Panasonic, Realworld, and Ubisense in highlighting how technology and software really are enabling a new generation of energy solutions.
The finale of the event was an in depth introduction to two of our latest additions to the GE Energy Product Portfolio, Smallworld GeoSpatial Analysis™ and MapFrame FieldSmart Mobile Framework™. Such was the level of interest in these Business Intelligence and Mobile Mapping solutions that both sessions were at capacity and repeat sessions had to be scheduled!
