The railway network has to be globally interconnected, and the connection between systems with different voltages and frequencies (electrical borders) can only be achieved through the disconnecting points that decouple them.

Disconnectors are an essential element of the supply systems (overhead conductors or ground level wires) that feed the trains. Their function is to disconnect the cells that make up the line in order to supply energy only when a train is running.
